Mesh Underpadding

Our 2 most commonly required underpadding differ in thickness and mesh size. This is because carpets are of different thickness due to the content of materials used to knot the carpets (ie: wools, silks), as well as the knot count.

These underpads feature a non slip rubber coating to hold rugs in place, to prevent tripping due to bunching and shifting of rugs, which occurs without the help of the underpad. The mesh promotes air circulation and prolongs the life of your rug.

The thinner underpadding 1/20" is used with thicker, heavier rugs that don’t require the cushioning.

The thicker underpadding 1/16" is usually used for thinner, lighter rugs that require more cushioning.

  • The above mentioned underpads require little maintenance.
  • They contain antimicrobial materials to resist mold and mildew.
  • There is a ten year guarantee for these underpads.
Rug-To-Rug Underpadding

The other 2 types of underpadding are for rug to rug applications. Whenever an area rug is used on wall to wall broadloom that has been originally installed to be used alone, there is a padding underneath that is probably more bouncy than you’ll need with an area rug on top.

We offer precut sizes:

3' x 5'
4' x 6'
5' x 8'
6' x 9'
8' x 10'
8' x 11'
9' x 12'
10' x 14'

Custom sizes can be cut as per order for clients.

At this point we would recommend our 1/4" felt with rubber backing or our 2 way non slip underlay which has a dry adhesive on both sides.

Our recommendation would be based on the fibre content of the broadloom and the area rug, as well as the original underpad underneath the broadloom.

In closing, it is important to note, that putting an area rug on a floor without underpadding can result in damage to the rug as well as danger to those who walk on it. The waffle type foam or rubber padding that is used under wall to wall broadloom should never be used for area rugs.
